Tobi's First Agility Class! *video*
Last Friday, Tobi had his very first agility class and he absolutely LOVED it! Jeff (my boyfriend) was the handler since this is more his thing than mine (mine this is horsie "agility). He does hope to compete with Tobi eventually. So far they both seem to be off to a great start! Tobi has so much drive and desire to do this, especially for a breed that isn't known for being an agility breed. Jeff was telling me after class that he was watching Tobi watch the other dogs with real intent and, for the most part, knew what to do when it was his turn with minimal input from Jeff.

But, we did run into an issue. Tobi is very people-oriented and loves saying "HI!HI!HI!HI!HI!HI!HI!" to everyone he meets when he is in a more relaxed, fun mode. (When he is patrolling the barn, he definitely doesn't give the same welcome to strangers, which is a good thing!) So, when the instructor is standing right by the entrance, he becomes VERY distracted.
Jeff had gone over to practice by himself and figure out what would work best for him and figured out that impeding him less (not crowding him or blocking the exit) was the best way to go. After convincing the instructor that her stepping back would be the best way to help Tobi, he was a superstar.
