Vendetta's New Beginning With Altitude - AKC/IABCA
Vendetta's New Beginning - UKC
AKA - Tobi
A note from Tobi's new parents after Tobi Spent his 1st night away from us and in his new home:
Tobi was an absolute peach last night. We had decided to let him
sleep in the human bed his first night to make sure he was happy and
comfortable. It took him a while to settle in since he so wasn't done
playing yet, but he did eventually and slept pretty soundly the whole
night.
Today we started with the crate training. Right now we are just at
the stage where we put him in, leave the room, and then come right
back to let him out again. Its cute how excited he gets to see us
again; you would think we left him in there for hours!
He has been crying on and off a bit, but nothing too major. He
absolutely LOVES bully sticks. He really gets into them and will just
chew and growl at the same time; just adorable!
We will try to get some pictures for you soon, too!
Thank you again so much. He is just an absolute joy. :)

More Updates on Tobi - 11/23/09
First I should tell you that plans for Tobi include Obedience Competition & Agility but if all is well, he will be in the conformation ring too. We are hopeful.
Now
11/23/09 - A few fun things from Tobi's new Mom & Dad
If Tobi isn't able to be shown in conformation, his Mom has this to say:
"worst comes to worst, he will just have to settle for MACH and/or NOC. Either way, he will get some sort of title to bring to the Vendetta name. "
Now for the important stuff:
"He has settled in wonderfully, overall. He is just a sweetheart and the socialization that you have done with him is very evident! He loves giving kisses, too. He is starting to learn "paw" (aka shake), "sit," and how to lead on the leash; he is such a quick learner!
He is also super playful and absolutely loves the Kong Squiggle you got for him. He will shake it and throw it and pounce on it. He likes it best when we play tug-of-war and fetch with it. He has such a sense of humor and Jeff and I just love watching all his little antics. He also has SUCH a wiggly little tail and it is almost always going as fast as it can!
He also met my 6 mo colt today. I was holding him while Jeff had the colt on a lead. My colt was super curious and sniffing him, but Tobi thought that he was WAY too big and got a bit scared, so we thought that was enough for today. I'm not too worried since both Gwen and Sparky (my first Boxer and Gwen's mom) acted the same way the first time they met a horse.
I will try to get pictures up soon!
-Suzie"
AND
"Just what you were waiting for. :)
Enjoy!
285 I thought was just too cute not to share, but 286 shows how his ears are taking. :) We have reapplied the tape twice now and he is learning to be a good, patient boy as we do it. This pup is just amazing in his attitude towards life and just takes everything in stride. :)
And regarding titles, no worries. His #1 job is to be a happy, healthy, and active Boxer. The titles would be the icing on the cake. ;)

More Updates on Tobi - 11/28/09
(I just love getting these updates)
Hey Debra! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)
Tobi has been great so far. He has been great with potty training and we have had only a handful of accidents. He is very good at letting us know he wants to go out by sitting at the door and he also knows "hurry up" now. Such a smart boy!
He met Blaze, my roommates dog and they got along very well. Blaze was very gentle with him, but is quite a reserved dog and isn't a very playful.
When we brought him home for Thanksgiving, he got to play TONS with Roxy (Jeff's mom's dog), Sparky and Tink (my family's dogs). Roxy was so excited to have a playmate and taught him all about the wiley ways of the tennis ball. He then went to visit my house to visit the Boxers. Tink and him absolutely hit it off and were playing together for nearly every waking minute. We would joke that she was asking if she could keep him and that she would promise to feed him and take good care of him. :P He also thinks that Tink is the best thing since rawhide chewies and had a blast playing with her this weekend. Sparky wasn't as sure about him; she was just a bit reserved but warmed up to him and they, too, played plenty. We actually caught him nursing on her a couple times and her letting him! We definitely tried to limit that behavior, haha.
We have also decided that we got two puppies in one: Tobi and Gator. Tobi is the sweet playful puppy that we wanted; Gator is the riled up, chomping monster in the body of a Boxer puppy, hehe. We like Tobi more. :p Fortunately, Gator still gives kisses, too.
Sadly, he is at Jeff's parents' house for the next two weeks so Jeff and I can focus on finals. We miss him already!
Also, we have found that he sleeps in the WEIRDEST ways! Pictures are attached. Enjoy!

New Pictures Below

Tobi has been an absolute joy so far. I must say, he is so clever and probably the smartest dog I have ever owned. Jeff loves to work with him since it is so easy. You tell teach him one day and he has it down pat. Most dogs, you get 5 steps forward one day, then must start 2 steps back the next. With Tobi, you teach him it and he KNOWS it. Just astounding.
So far, he has sit, stay, wait, watch, hop up, off, leave it, inside, outside, ready-go (get excited, playtime), quiet (calm down), ok (relax, release command) hurry up (go pee) and hurry up more (go poo) confirmed. He also knows to walk on a loose leash and we have started to introduce distractions to the confirmed commands.
While he has been potty trained for some time now (about 3 weeks since his last oopsie), we brought him to our apartment at school and he had an accident right in front of the door. Jeff and I realized that he knows to go outside, but can't hold it long and sometimes we don't see him sitting by the door in time. We placed a bell on the door knob and he walked up, rung it investigatively, and we went outside, we told him hurry up, he went, and then back inside. Later, he got up and rung it again, we went outside again and he did his business. By the third time, we realized he completely understood what it was and what it meant to ring it.
Its so funny sometimes because he will be playing and bouncing around, and then bounds at the door to ring the bell and then sits and waits for us to open it for him. We are so proud of him!
I'm going to bring him to the vet to get his rabies shot later this afternoon so he can start his beginner obedience class this Wednesday! Jeff is really excited for it and adores working with Tobi since he has such a drive to learn and make Jeff happy. I will be there, too, with camera in hand.
Also, his favorite toy is the purple squiggly kong that you gave us. :)

More Updates on Tobi - 6/25/2010
Hey Debra!
Tobi is still an absolute joy (how could he not be?). After his more intensive intermediate obedience training, Jeff and him had their hand at Rally O but it didn't pan out. Essentially, Tobi and Jeff could perform all the movements wonderfully, but I think Jeff would stiffen and get nervous with the signs which caused Tobi to not want to work anymore. It was very frustrating for Jeff to KNOW that he and his dog could do everything, but he was holding back the team. So, we let up a bit and Tobi is now being a dog more and training a bit less. He has still learned some fun new things though. What comes to mind includes closing the door behind him, leaping into our arms, and gait directions off-leash (i.e. faster, slower, right, left, etc.).
But, come August, we will begin the real fun: agility! Tobi has a real knack for jumping and we have been stringing together sequences of 3-5 (very low!) jumps and Tobi thinks it is the best thing ever! Jeff and I keep saying that we need to tape it to show everyone. The horse people say that we need to saddle him up like a real horse next, haha.
Everyone gives us compliments on what a fine dog he is turning into (except CL...). He is thriving right now and has a glistening coat covering his rock hard muscle. One can literally trace the muscles on this dog! But, he is still an absolute sweetheart and loves playing with the kids that come to the barn with their moms.
I need to get you pictures... and videos... bad me! I just need a Tobi photoshoot day. I did attach some older ones, though, from about two months ago. Also, Tobi is going on his very first backpacking trip this weekend, so you can be sure that there will be plenty of pictures from that!
Last time I measured him, Tobi is 67 lbs and 26.5 inches tall at the wither, so is certainly going to be a big boy!
Oh, and his ears took. :) In terms of conformation, he is certainly something to be proud of. He is a very square dog already, but perhaps a touch long in the leg still. His chest is developing wonderfully and he has an excellent tuck. His topline is quite straight and it flows from his long, arching neck well and ends at a . His head is VERY nice and most definitely masculine. He has a clear stop and a very proportioned muzzle with respect to the rest of his head. His eyes are very dark and perhaps a bit loose, but not overly so. And his lips... Ohhhh his lips. He stores water in them to get our attention when we are being boring by opening his big mouth right when his head is over our laps. Did I mention his full fledged Boxer sense of humor?

I know this one is tiny but I can't seem to make it bigger wihout it getting blurry!
