Contracts

Many breeders have and use contracts.  While they are a fantastic tool to help assure puppies go to the best homes, there are a few things you should consider before signing the dotted line.

1)Are the terms reasonable?

Many will ask for free lifetime stud service from a male or puppies back from every bitches litter. All to often the puppies given back to breeder are resold on the same contract at a substantial prices.

2)Does the breeder do everything they are asking you to do?

If it is a show contract, does the breeder show.  If not ask why, and why must you commit to it if they themselves do not do it.  DO NOT be a victim of the hypocritical do as I say not as I do breeder.

3)Does the breeder require you to pay a handler to handle your show boxer, or does the breeder tell you who you have to have handle your boxer?

If you are entering into a show contract, chances are the breeder has stipulated in that contract that you have to pay a professional handler to handle your Boxer. Many times that professional is the breeder themselves and if it is not the breeder themselves it is somebody the breeder chooses for you. Many times that means your boxer is on the road for day's, weeks or months at a time. Are you ok with any of this? Is it ok that your boxer spends that much time away from you and your family. Are you ok with being forced to have somebody handle your boxer for you at huge fee's? Are you ok with being on a contract that forces you to pay huge handling fee's?

4) Are you new to Boxers?  If so be especially cautious, many breeders will use contracts to force their beliefs and practices on the unsuspecting newbie, effectively preventing you from being able to develop and implement your own unique showing/breeding program.

Be VERY cautious about signing ANY contract.  Read it thoroughly and more than once.  Having the contract reviewed  by an attorney is  recommended.  This is something that will follow you for the life of your new boxer.   If you have any misgivings or second thoughts then DO NOT sign.  NO dog is worth years of heartache, nor being tied down by someone else's beliefs and practices.

  • You provide for your boxer adequate food/water, shelter, exercise, training/socialization & veterinary care as needed.
  • You follow our shot protocol
  • You agree to spay/neuter your boxer between the ages of 12 to 18 months of age & provide us proof that your boxer was spayed/neutered by a licesensed veterinarian.

That is it - We don't ask for or require anything outrageous.

Our Show/Breeding Puppy Contracts Stipulate that:

  • You provide for your boxer adequate food/water, shelter, exercise, training/socialization & veterinary care as needed.

  • Your boxer will live indoors with the family as boxers are indoor dogs and need human interaction. Boxers are NOT outside dogs.
  • If for any reason whatsoever, at anytime you have to give up ownership of your boxer, that you relinquish ownership back to us at your expense unless you have found a suitable home that we have approved of to re-home your boxer to. You must get our written consent to relinquish ownership to somebody other then us prior to re-homing your boxer.
  • You allow us to use a dog purchased from us for stud service with 2 bitches of our choosing at a fee that will be predetermined at the time you purchase your boxer from us.
  • You allow us to have the option to purchase the 2nd pick puppy from the 1st litter of a bitch you purchase from us. We reserve the right to decide not to purchase the puppy and allow you to place the puppy elsewhere.

That is it - We don't ask for or require anything outrageous.

We will never tell you who you have to have handle your boxer or even that you have to have a professional handler. If you want to show your boxer yourself, we will encourage you to do so. We want to see more owner handlers in the ring. If you don't want to handle your boxer but you also don't want to pay a professional, we would be more then happy to handle your boxer for you (if you wanted us to). We would never charge a puppy buyer of our boxers a handling fee. We may be pretty much newbies ourselves and maybe we aren't the best handlers but we have been at this a couple years and we do ok. Chances are that hiring a professional of your choice to handle your boxer would give you the best chances in the AKC to have your boxer finish it's championship but it will be completely your choice. We wont even make you sign a co-ownership agreement as we won't sign them ourselves. If you purchase a boxer from us...... It is your boxer.
